Psssst...don't look now....but this just might be a mini reveal!
Here is the entryway all finished -trimmed, painted, with a floor and everything! We are SO in love with it.
Another shot, from the dining room. Let's talk floor for a minute. We really went the rounds about what to do with the floor. We found some flooring at Home Depot that we liked, and our original idea was to buy it a box at a time as we had the money and just install it as we went. The guy there convinced us that was a bad idea because he couldn't guarantee matching dye lots. I NEVER would have thought of that. Anyway, we needed a solution that didn't have us walking around on our subfloor all winter (we had heard that could damage it) but that would allow us to buy and install over time. We were fine with a temporary solution, and then one day I decided to google using plywood. Guess what? People do it!
I found many blog examples of people using plywood as flooring and it all looked amazing. Most people rip the wood into strips, but we opted for "tiles". We are using 5 mm plywood. It is cheap. Very cheap - but look how pretty!! Now, when the time comes that we can put down real flooring, we can just install right on top of this.
We didn't need this wardrobe in Sage's room anymore and it was a perfect fit, so we opted for this over a built in. More savings!
Here is the view from the front door. The wall paint color is a little bit more orangey than it shows in this picture. Very warm...
And a close up of the texture. Which I did totally by myself. I am pretty proud of it - I think it looks great!
This is kind of hard to see because it is white on white and the window isn't covered, but we also trimmed out the front window and made a wider sill for Mimi to sit on. I love the way the trim just makes it look more substantial.

Love it!
ReplyDeleteHey...is there more done than when I was there the other day?

ReplyDeleteThanks everybody!
ReplyDeleteTawnya...maybe? I think when you were there, there was stuff that was weighted down and drying.
Mom - we cut the plywood, sand it, then put three coats of poly on and when it is dry use liquid nails to glue it right to the subfloor. There are a lot of flaws if you look at it close...I'm going to fill in some of the worst gaps with wood putty...but it'll do for now!
gorgeous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the floor! Love!
